As the holiday season approaches, many South African musicians are taking time to reflect on the year and plan how they will spend Christmas and the New Year.
For them, the season is less about public events and more about family, rest and personal reflection.

Tulz Madala will be visiting home for the holidays
“For New Year’s and Christmas, it is all about spending time with the family. This year is extra special because my mother is visiting me from back home,” said Madala.
Like many artists, Madala sees the holidays as a chance to reconnect with loved ones and slow down after a busy year.

Musa Sukwene plans a quiet family Christmas
“I will be spending Christmas at home, prioritising quality time with my family. New Year's Day will likely be a day of quiet reflection and setting intentions for the coming year, perhaps a braai and some rest before the music momentum picks up again,” he shared.
For him, the holidays are a space to pause and prepare for the year ahead.

Moozlie also views the season as a time to reset
“Christmas for me is all about being present. It is a time I really cherish with my family - sharing good food, laughter and moments that remind me of what truly matters.
"I use this time to rest, reflect on the year that has been, and reset for what is ahead. Christmas reminds me to lead with love, kindness and appreciation,” she admitted.

Kyle Deutsch emphasised family and memory
“I am blessed that I get to spend Christmas with my family this year.
"Cherishing our loved ones and the elderly whilst they are still with us. Allowing them to spend time with my little ones and showering love and youthfulness onto those dear to us."
"Remembering those who are no longer with us, telling stories and allowing family traditions to be passed on to us," he added.
