The Beckham family drama has reached a new level. For years, there have been murmurs about a rift in the family following Brooklyn Beckham's marriage to Nicola Peltz, the son of the British celebrity couple, David and Victoria Beckham.
Now, the drama might have reached its tipping point with Brooklyn letting his 16.2 million Instagram followers know that he does not want to reconcile with his family.
The 26-year-old said that his parents have been controlling narratives in the press about his family and tried to "ruin" his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham.
"I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life."
Brooklyn is the eldest son of the former England football captain, David and his fashion designer and former pop star wife, Victoria.
Brooklyn married Nicola, an American actress and the daughter of billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and former model Claudia Heffner Peltz, in 2022.
The Beckhams have, for years, appeared to be the picture-perfect family, but now, with all that has been previously said in the press and Brooklyn’s explosive tell-all, many are wondering what is happening behind closed doors.
While family drama should be a private affair, it is very difficult when you are among the rich and famous and every move and social media unfollow or follow is watched by millions
The reactions to the latest Beckham family drama have split the public, with some calling Brooklyn a spoiled child and with some understanding that money doesn't mean you don’t experience family drama.
@aliciamcfc said: “The comments on Brooklyn beckham shows how backwards people are. Being brought up with money doesnt mean you have to excuse your parents shitty behavior for the rest of your life. Money isnt everything!!!”
@amackieee said: “Two things could be true at once. Victoria Beckham might be a boy mom crazed weirdo & Nicola Peltz’s family and her are evil M*GA, nanny abusing, psychos who might be controlling Brooklyn Bridge. Idk as juicy as this is, this is above my tax bracket chile. Good luck to everyone.”
@_Cypher_Rkive said: “Y'all not going to convince me that Brooklyn Beckham is a victim of his parents when they supported him in every one of his careers, especially when they financed his photography facet and that was his job. I'm dying at the descriptions 🤣🤣”
@lovesickplaid said: “it's obvious who didnt actually read brooklyn beckhams full statement because a good mother wouldnt HIJACK YOUR FIRST DANCE AT YOUR WEDDING AND DANCE SO INAPPROPRIATELY ON HER SON THAT HE WAS UNCOMFORTABLE AND EMBARASSED WHILE WEARING A SATIN SLIP.”
@Caesarinny said: “Look, I'm probably gonna get flamed for this, but Brooklyn Beckham spilling all that tea on his folks? He's spot on, and honestly, good for him for finally growing a spine. David and Victoria have been pimping out "Brand Beckham" like it's some sacred cash cow for decades, turning their kids into props for magazine covers and Insta likes. Brooklyn's saying they tried to sabotage his wedding, bribed him to sign away his own damn name, and even had Victoria grinding up on him like it's a club night instead of his first dance?
“That's not parenting, that's straight-up toxic narcissism wrapped in designer labels. People are out here calling him ungrateful or a spoiled brat, but come on, the guy's 26 and still dealing with mommy and daddy pulling strings like he's a puppet. If anything, Nicola's the hero for helping him see through the BS.
“The Beckhams built an empire on fake family vibes, and now that one kid's breaking free, they're leaking stories to play victim? Nah, this feud exposes how celebrity parents chew up their own for relevance. Brooklyn might not be a genius chef or whatever, but at least he's choosing real life over the Beckham circus. More power to him...let the brand burn.”
Brooklyn's lengthy statement alleges continuous efforts by his parents to undermine his relationship, starting even before his wedding. He claims the interference has persisted, providing several examples.
One allegation is that his mother abruptly canceled plans to make Nicola's wedding dress, despite Nicola's excitement about wearing her design, forcing her to quickly find an alternative.
He also claims his mother "hijacked" the first dance at the wedding, dancing "inappropriately" with him in front of guests, a moment he described as the most "uncomfortable or humiliated" he had ever felt.
Furthermore, Brooklyn alleged his wife has been "disrespected" by his family, citing her exclusion from his father's 50th birthday party.
He stated that his family prioritizes public image and endorsements, with "Brand Beckham" taking precedence over all else.
Brooklyn concluded his statement by sharing that he grew up with "overwhelming anxiety," but has since found "peace."
