Rapper and reality star Nadia Nakai has opened up about a different side of her career, one that has nothing to do with music and everything to do with learning on the job.
The artist took to her Instagram to showcase the ins and outs of her entrepreneurial career as she walked through the Mall of Africa on her way to check on her Naked Without make-up kiosk. In the video, she spoke about what it has been like stepping into the role of a business owner.
“Starting a business, running a business, it has to be the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my whole career, but also the most fulfilling,” she said.
Nakai went on to explain that owning a business comes with responsibilities she never fully imagined before. From making sure stock is available to handling bags and tissue paper, and managing both sales reps and management, she said it has been a lot to take on.
“It is so fulfilling, but scary at the same time,” she added.
Despite the challenges, the experience has clearly been meaningful for the rapper. She shared her gratitude for being in a position to run her own business and described the journey as eye-opening.
“I just want to give appreciation to God for allowing me to have an opportunity like this,” she said. “To say that I’m running my own business is crazy, but I think it’s a big learning adventure.”
The “Naked Without” brand, which Nakai launched in December 2023, continues to grow as she balances her rap career and screen time with entrepreneurship.
In the midst of it all, she also has a reality show, “Beyond Bragga”, which is in its second season and contributed to earning her a nomination at the National Film & TV Awards for “Best Celebrity Personality”, going up against Khanyi Mbau, Ayanda Thabethe, The Funny Chef, and Anele Mdoda, to name a few.
Lawrence Maleka ended up walking away with the accolade.
