Yonda Thomas makes waves as he joins Netflix's 'One Piece' cast

South African actor Yonda Thomas makes his international breakthrough, joining Netflix's hit series 'One Piece' as Igaram, protector of Princess Nefertari Vivi. South African actor Yonda Thomas, known for "How to Ruin Christmas," has secured his first international role. He has joined the cast of the "One Piece" spin-off series for season two.

Netflix has recently announced additional cast members for the series, revealing them alongside the second trailer.

The second round of casting announcements in as many days confirmed three new actors for the One Piece series, who will portray the characters Dragon, Igaram, and Ipponmatsu.

Among these, Thomas has been cast as Igaram, who is the devoted attendant to the Alabasta royal family and the sworn protector of Princess Nefertari Vivi.

Rigo Sanchez and James Hiroyuki are the two other new actors introduced alongside him. Sanchez is set to portray Dragon. His character will appear in Loguetown, where the Straw Hats encounter the local marine garrison, led by Captain Smoker.

Hiroyuki portrays Ipponmatsu, the proprietor of an arms store situated in Loguetown. He encounters Zoro when the green-haired swordsman visits the shop seeking new blades.

Thomas has been seen in several Netflix movies such as Happiness Ever After, Seriously Single, and Mrs Right Guy, and for television shows such as Red Ink and How to Ruin Christmas. He will also be seen on Netflix next month in the South African film Umjolo: My Beginnings, My End!.

The actor's notable television roles include playing Damon, a bartender, in the popular local drama “Muvhango”, and Majola in “Isidingo”. He also portrayed the young Nelson Mandela in the critically acclaimed BET series, “Madiba”.

Furthermore, he has starred in a variety of other South African productions, such as “Doubt”, “Maseko Ties”, “Mina Nawe”, and “Ambition”.
