Cardi B had fans screaming louder during night two of her sold-out Los Angeles stop when she brought out the two-time Grammy Award-winning Tyla on stage.
The moment happened during the rapper’s “Little Miss Drama” tour stop at the Kia Forum, where Cardi B had already made history as the first female rapper to sell out the iconic venue.
While Tyla’s vocals have been part of the setlist since the tour kicked off, Cardi B had been performing Tyla’s part solo until the crowd was treated to several surprises.
“I would like to present to you the most beautiful girl in Africa, Tyla,” Cardi B said as the crowd erupted in excitement.
As the opening notes of “Nice Guy” played, Tyla appeared as the stage floor opened up to a roar of excitement, joining Cardi B for their first live performance of the hit song on the tour.
She strutted on stage in an archival Roberto Cavalli 2003 Spring/Summer dress. When it came to the hair, Tyla channelled the iconic Aaliyah with a styled sidepart covering one eye.
The moment marked a full-circle celebration for a song that has become one of the standout records from Cardi B’s latest album, “Am I The Drama?”
Judging by the crowd’s reaction, it was a moment fans were not expecting.
Tyla continued to perform her chart-topping song “Chanel”, which sent fans and Cardi B into a frenzy. The rapper danced alongside Tyla while singing along to the song.
Their collaboration received major praise, with “Billboard” ranking “Nice Guy” as the number one song on the album. The publication described the song as an “earworm”, highlighting Tyla’s smooth vocals and unexpected rap verse as the perfect complement to Cardi’s melodic delivery.
The song has also helped propel the album to early success. “Am I The Drama?” became the fastest female album in Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) history to reach Platinum status, achieving the milestone within 15 hours of its release.
The “Little Miss Drama” tour launched earlier this month and spans 35 arena dates across North America, with stops scheduled through mid-April.
