Award-winning rapper Cassper Nyovest and Emtee have seemingly patched things up after a long-time beef.
The two rappers appear to have put the past behind them after Nyovest accepted Emtee’s apology in a recent tweet.
The beef between Nyovest and Emtee has been simmering for years; their relationship has undergone visible highs and lows, often driven by social media disputes and competitive pressures within the music industry.
The two have now decided to let bygones be bygones.
The “Roll Up” hitmaker publicly apologised to Nyovest on X on February 11. He acknowledged past moments of disrespect and made it clear that he holds no grudges against him, and he remains a fan of Nyovest’s music.
“Cassper Nyovest, I’m sorry for all the times I disrespected you. Thank you for all the deep conversations. I have nothing against you. I bought your album, Tsholofelo, and still have it. I pose no threat. Thank you for paving the way for us,” said Emtee.
Nyovest responded to the apology on Thursday, February 19, expressing that his apology meant a lot to him and assured Emtee that there are no hard feelings.
He also added that he has great respect for him and suggested they meet up soon.
“This means a lot to me, champ. It ain’t a thing. We grown. I have so much respect for you. Let’s link up, please. Love you, brother,” he wrote.
Fans have applauded Emtee for taking accountability and apologising to Nyovest.
“It's good seeing artists humbling themselves and apologising, RSA hip hop to the world,” @sthedoingtingss commented.
@SethPato97 commented: “This is the content I signed up for..accountability, respect & havin' each other's backs.”
“I like this so much, you all artists can rectify your mistakes and unite. I think a lot of people will succeed in the music industry and won't go broke. Knowing the rest are behind them, and there's unity,” said @tso2212.
“It's a beautiful thing to witness, creative people come together...,” wrote @KhuboneLun93149
What’s hip hop culture without a little rivalry? This is reportedly not the first time that the two rappers have clashed and later made amends. Back in 2018, Emtee dissed Nyovest, claiming that he does not make good music and that he is a “fat boy”.
This was after Nyovest commented on rumours that Emtee was allegedly on drugs. In 2022, tensions flared again when Emtee reportedly stood Nyovest up at the studio.
Nyovest said at the time Emtee did not show up and had his phone switched off. The two have eventually reconciled and squashed their “beef” in heartfelt posts.
