Nearly two decades since the iconic phrase “that's all” resonated throughout cinema, the much-anticipated sequel to "The Devil Wears Prada" is officially in the works.

Lead once again by Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, "The Devil Wears Prada 2" promises to update viewers on the beloved characters navigating a dramatically changed fashion landscape.

The original film, released in 2006 and based on Lauren Weisberger’s best-selling novel, cemented itself as a cultural touchstone, grossing over $326 million globally and earning two Oscar nominations, including a Best Actress nod for Streep.

Viewers followed the journey of Anne Hathaway’s Andréa Sachs, an aspiring journalist who becomes entrenched in the demanding world of high-fashion publishing under Priestly’s ruthless guidance.

Fans had speculated about a sequel for years when the original cast, including Streep, Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, reunited at the SAG Awards in 2024.

Recently, 20th Century Studios took to social media to announce that production has begun.

The sequel is set to premiere in May 2026 and will delve into Priestly’s struggles amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing.

She now faces competition from her former assistant Emily Charlton, played by Blunt, who has risen to become an executive at a luxury advertising firm.

Newcomers will also join the cast, including Kenneth Branagh is set to star as Priestly’s husband.

Meanwhile, Hathaway’s character, previously uncertain in her trajectory since leaving "Runway", is speculated to have taken her talents to a prestigious French women’s publication, with her own adventures to unfold in the City of Love.

In a previous online interview, Hathaway shared her vision of her character: "I think she's a staff writer and she speaks French fluently. I don't think she's married, but she might have a child or two."

Meanwhile, Blunt expressed a desire for her character to enjoy simple pleasures, hoping that Emily takes a well-deserved break with good food in her new life.

"I hope she's eating a nice French dip sandwich somewhere and she's just happy,” Blunt said

Despite the long wait for this sequel, both the cast and fans appear eager as the production shifts into full gear.

Directed once again by David Frankel, "The Devil Wears Prada 2" has all the makings of a cinematic return that is not to be missed.

"CINEMA IS BACK I CANT WAIT 😭," wrote on fan on Instagram upon viewing the announcement.

Another said: "Now in production? By all means, move at a glacial pace, you know how that thrills me."
