Doja Cat is stepping into a new era.

The Grammy-winning rapper, singer and all-around genre shapeshifter has officially announced her fifth studio album, “Vie”, set to drop on September 26.

The news arrived in typically dramatic Doja Cat fashion through a teaser video posted to Instagram, instantly sparking excitement among fans worldwide.

The short clip shows her holding a single rose while softly repeating the mantra, “Je sais que tu es ma vie” (“I know that you are my life”).

The moment takes a playful turn, and the video ends with her seemingly speaking to herself, whispering, “You’re here,” before replying, “Of course I am!” and then sinking her teeth into a baguette.

It’s surreal, tongue-in-cheek, and theatrical - all of which have become trademarks of her bold artistic persona.

While no album artwork or tracklist has been revealed yet, she has already confirmed the project’s lead single, “Jealous Type”, which will arrive on August 21.

Early descriptions suggest that “Vie” will dive headfirst into themes of love, romance and intimacy - a deliberate embrace of the lush, exaggerated imagery tied to Paris and the French language.

Adding to the mystique, Doja Cat launched the "Vie" Hotline, encouraging fans to call in and hear her thoughts on love. “My name is Doja Cat, and I’m no couple's therapist, but I do have some opinions,” she teased, adding yet another layer to the album’s concept.

The hotline, designed “for the lovers who feel too much, too fast, too often”, builds on the narrative of “Vie” as more than just an album - but a world where vulnerability, sensuality and satire all coexist.

One thing fans should prepare for: “Vie” is a pop record.

In a recent conversation with "V Magazine", she addressed the sonic direction head-on, making it clear she’s leaning into the genre that first brought her global fame.

“I do want to be self-aware enough to admit the fact that this is a pop-driven project,” she explained. “I know that I can make pop music, and pop is just that - it’s popular.”

This marks a pivot from her last album, “Scarlet”, which leaned heavily into rap and darker aesthetics, showcasing her versatility and range.

But Doja Cat has always resisted being boxed into a single category. From viral hits like “Mooo!” to chart-dominating smashes such as “Say So” and “Kiss Me More”, her career has thrived on constant reinvention.

Whether blending rap, R&B or pop, she has built a reputation as one of the most unpredictable, daring, and playful artists of her generation.

Since bursting onto the mainstream stage, she has collected Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, MTV VMAs and Billboard Music Awards, cementing her place as a cross-genre powerhouse.

She’s also become a cultural icon beyond music, shaping conversations in fashion, internet culture and performance art with her fearless aesthetic choices - from couture red-carpet looks to viral social media antics.

With “Vie”, Doja Cat appears to be entering a romantic, Parisian-inspired phase - one that still carries her signature wit and eccentricity, but with a softer, pop-forward core.

It’s a return to the sound that made her a household name, but, as always, with her own eccentric twist.
