Global creative icon Ye is set to make his long-awaited return to South Africa this December with a one-night-only live performance at Ellis Park Stadium, Johannesburg, on December 13.
With the recent concert cancellations and refund struggles, many South Africans are on the edge of their seats when it comes to purchasing tickets for the Ye concert.
The Monyake Group, organisers, however, have assured fans that the show will happen, and Ye’s tour production heads have been to Johannesburg to see the venue.
“When Ye’s production team visited Ellis Park recently, they were blown away by the world-class infrastructure and scale of the venue. It truly affords Ye an unlimited canvas for his creativity.
“This isn’t just a concert - it’s performance art on a monumental scale and will be an unforgettable night,” said Samuel Monyake of concert promoters, The Monyake Group.
The show is poised to be unlike anything South Africa has ever seen, with Ye set to perform on an illuminated half-dome stage, a towering sculpture of light and sound that will glow against the Johannesburg skyline.
Spider-cams will capture every move Ye makes on the stage and as night falls, the dome will come alive, transforming the stadium into a vast, breathing work of art that blurs the boundaries between concert and installation.
In a previous interview with “Independent Media Lifestyle”, Monyake shared that they hope to use this event as a springboard to bring international A-listers into South African stadiums consistently and to showcase African creativity on the global stage.
"It is the first step in a five-year plan to turn South Africa into a routine stop for top-tier international talent rather than a one-off tour stop,” Monyaka explained.
