It’s new music Friday, and Afropop stars Naledi Aphiwe and Mawelele have officially released “Come Duze”, a song fans have been waiting on for a while now.
The song marks their fourth love ballad together, and according to Naledi, it’s the last one, for now.
The two have touched hearts with their collaboration on songs like “Naledi”, “Romeo & Juliet” and “Buye Ekhaya”.
Their latest release is another chapter in the pair’s ongoing musical partnership, one that listeners have followed closely over the past few years.
While the two have never been shy about pouring real emotion into their music, “Come Duze” feels especially personal in message.
Mawelele and Naledi have used their personal love story to inspire their music, which has led to success and accolades.
The song centres on wanting love back and giving it. It follows on from “Buya Ekhaya”, which leaned heavily into heartbreak and distance.
The release is also notable given the pair’s very public ups and downs. Naledi previously confirmed that “Buya Ekhaya” was meant to be their final song together following their split in 2025.
Since then, fans have speculated about where the two stand, both personally and creatively. “Come Duze” does not offer clear answers, because their love story has also never been quite clear.
Naledi shared with “Daily Sun” that she enjoys making music with Mawelele, adding that they initially wanted to make an album together, but their schedules clashed.
"We've done four amazing songs together. We initially wanted to make an entire album, but times were not aligning last year for us to release it.
"I love making music with Mawelele. We are both young and passionate about Afro-pop and R&B.
That's why it always made sense to me to work with him. The fans, I think, love both of us; our breakthrough was around the same time, so a collaboration with the two of us always made sense to them," she said.
