October is poised to be a thrilling month for entertainment, with an array of new series and movies launching across popular streaming platforms and television networks. 

This month, there's something to captivate every viewer, from gripping limited series to shocking reality shows.

Below are the shows to diarise this month:

Leon Schuster will feature in his new documentary 'Schuster' that navigates gives fans a perspective on his life beyond the jokes and hit films.

“Schuster”

South Africa’s beloved comedian, Leon Schuster, is returning to our screens this October, but not for laughs but to show fans the real person behind the smiles and jokes.

"Schuster" is a five-part documentary series, and it delves into the comedian's early years in Bloemfontein, his beginnings as a radio presenter and his remarkable achievements with hit films such as "You Must Be Joking" and "Mama Jack."

This documentary will also include his unfiltered journey of his health challenges he has faced in the past with his back, which has left him in unbearable and constant pain. 

“Schuster” airs on KykNet (DStv channel 144) on Wednesday at 8pm.

Popular influencer, Cyan Boujee is a part of the cast members of the new show 'Slay Queens'.

“Slay Queens”

This five-part documentary series tells the story of the controversial and flashy lifestyle of slay queens and ballers.

It features popular figures in the SA entertainment industry, such as the controversial DJ and influencer, Cyan Boujee, DJ and club owner, Mr JazziQ, and author and former slay queen, Jackie Phamotse, who will offer insights as well as their experiences having seen or lived this lifestyle.

Other cast members include the author of “The Soft Life: Love, Choice and Modern Dating”, Lebo Masango, a sangoma, an Uber driver, and a promoter, offering their perspectives from the spiritual, economic and logistical corners of this world.

“Slay Queens” premieres on Showmax on October 31.

"Fathers and Sons' features popular SA actors Omhle Tshabalala, Paul Maila and Makwela Lekalakala.

“Fathers and Sons”

“Fathers and Sons” is a new comedy drama series that follows the lives of three men from the Mphahlele family who are forced to live together under one roof but can’t get along peacefully.

This series features a star-studded cast, including child star Omhle Tshabalala as Gopolang, Paul Maila as Khutso and Makwela Lekalakala as Madimetja.

Madimetja makes his comeback into the life of his son, Khutso, who is a single and control-freak father to his teenage son, Gopolang. 

New episodes drop every Monday at 8pm on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161).

'iSizwe SaKwa Dlamuka' is a new reality show about the Dlamuka family that navigates a polygamous life.

“iSizwe SaKwa Dlamuka”

This is a spin-off reality show of “Isencane Lengane”, which follows the lives of the late Mthandeni Dlamuka, a polygamous man and priest who had five wives and 27 children.

The Dlamukas show the unfiltered joys, challenges and tensions of living in a modern polygamous family.

“iSizwe SaKwa Dlamuka” premieres on Saturday, October 11, at 8.30pm on Moja Love (DStv channel 157).

The new season of 'Strictly Come Dancing' features a contestant with Down Syndrome

“Strictly Come Dancing”

The 25th season of this dance competition show is making its annual comeback, and this time with a little bit of razzle and dazzle, as for the first time in history, it includes a contestant with Down syndrome, Ellie Goldstein.

Goldstein is an English model and actress who made history as the first-ever model with Down syndrome to feature on the cover of “Vogue” and also appear on a campaign with luxury brand Gucci.

She will share the stage with fellow celebrities such as contestants including former England rugby captain Chris Robshaw, football legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and “Doctor Who” star Alex Kingston.

New episodes drop every Sunday at 7pm on BBC Brit (DStv Channel 120).
