South African actress, Danica De La Rey Jones, has landed a role in an international action film, “Sniper: No Nation”, alongside the celebrated actress, Masasa Mbangeni.

Both exceptional actresses are popularly known for their roles on eTV’s long-running soapie “Scandal”, where their roles earned them national recognition and fans.

They join a global cast in a high-stakes action-military film that follows elite sniper Brandon Beckett (played by Chad Michael Collins), who is rejected by his government and disappears, only to learn that his remaining allies have been wiped out by hired soldiers.

With his fellow soldiers imprisoned and scheduled for public execution, Beckett reunites with his father, Thomas Beckett (played by Tom Berenger), and a group of rebels for a rescue mission

It is reported that Jones portrays the role of Skylar and Mbangeni portrays the role of Angel.

Another South African actor who has joined the film is Sizo Mahlangu, who plays the role of Zondi.

Other notable cast members include Canadian actor Ryan Robbins, who portrays the role of Agent Zero, American actor Josh Brener, who plays the role of Intel Pete and American actor Jason K. Ralph, who plays the role of Frost.

Mbangeni is widely recognised for her iconic role as Thembeka Shezi in “Scandal”, while Jones is known for her versatility as an actress and has also played the role of Simone in the soapie as well, just years after Mbangeni’s exit.

Jones’ latest role builds on an already established streak in action films, as she previously appeared in numerous action TV shows and movies, including Netflix’s “Unseen”, “Hunting Jessica Brok” and “Outgunned”.

While for Mbangeni, the role she landed in “Sniper: No Nation” is yet another highlight of what has been a great year for her.

The actress celebrated completing her BA Honours in Dramatic Arts from Wits University in December 2025.

The announcement about the casting follows the surprising cancellation of “Scandal!” by eTV in September 2025, which ended its 20-year run.

The channel announced that "Scandal!" has concluded its life cycle and will remain on air until the end of June 2026.

“Sniper: No Nation” premiered exclusively on Apple TV+ on April 17.
