Khanyi Mbau nominated for Best Actress at the National Film & TV Awards

The National Film & TV Awards South Africa features a strong lineup of contenders for the Best Actress In a Film category. From “Meet The Khumalos” stars Khanyi Mbau and Ayanda Borotho, to “Disaster Holiday” actress Lunathi Mampofu, the competition is stiff.

Mampofu’s “Disaster Holiday” co-star Kenneth Nkosi has been nominated for Best Actor In a Film, alongside “Umjolo: My Beginning, My End” actor Yonda Thomas and “Khaki Fever” actor Christopher Jaftha.

The National Film & TV Awards South Africa now in their third year are on a mission to honour the country’s screen legends and those deserving for their contributions to film and television.

South Africa's veteran actor, director and playwright Dr John Kani will be honoured a Lifetime Achievement Award for his exceptional contribution to cinema and theatre.

The legendary actor recently joined the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voting body and last year he was honoured with the esteemed Order of the British Empire (OBE) by His Majesty King Charles III for “services to drama”.

Filmmaker, comedian, actor, prankster Leon Schuster along with his longtime co-star Alfred Ntombela, and legendary thespian Dr Jerry Mofokeng Makhetha will receive the Outstanding Contribution to Film and TV Award, celebrating their immense cultural impact across generations.

Audience favourites Minnie Dlamini, Katlego Maboe, Lasizwe Dambuza, and Carissa Cupido are among nominees across the personality and presenting categories.

The winners for the National Film & TV Awards South Africa are determined by public voting via the official academy public voting platform close at 12:00 on November 20, 2025.

Sara Kensington, Global Partnerships Manager at the National Film Academy, said: “It is very important to honour the legends of the South African film and television industry, and that is exactly what the National Film & TV Awards and the academy represent. 

“While we celebrate iconic figures who have paved the way, this year’s nominees showcase the next generation of exceptional talent. From actors, actresses, producers, and storytellers who are redefining creativity and pushing boundaries in film and television.”

The third annual National Film Awards will be streamed live to millions of viewers on VooVix TV on November 22, 2025.

With plenty of categories, from producer to podcast, anyone can be a winner at the National Film Awards South Africa.
