"Come Dine With Me" has become an absolute favourite worldwide, giving us a front-row seat to dinner party drama, questionable cooking and some of the most brutally honest (and hilarious) critiques on TV.
The show first aired in the UK in 2005 and its format quickly won over audiences. The concept is simple: four strangers take turns hosting a dinner party, competing for a cash prize.
But let’s be honest 0 it’s less about the food and more about the personalities, the unfiltered commentary and those unforgettable moments when the polite veneer cracks.
When the South African version hit our screens in 2011, we were hooked. Filming primarily in major cities like Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, the local spin brought in all the sass, drama and awkward silences we never knew we needed.
Now, Mzansi can once again sit back and enjoy brand-new episodes as season 10 premiered this past week.
The season sets off in Johannesburg, where an HR manager, a creative consultant, an author and a sports coordinator go head-to-head.
You can already imagine the chaos - unique dishes, kitchen disasters and the all-important tea that gets spilled when contestants retreat to the private confessional room to pick apart not just the food, but each other’s lives.
Over the years, "Come Dine With Me South Africa" has given us plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. Who can forget the contestant who ordered a Woolies (Woolworths) roast chicken and tried to pass it off as homemade? Or the time a guest sneakily spat food into a napkin, hoping no one would notice?
And let’s not even start on the brutal honesty - like when one guest straight-up called the host’s meal "inedible" while sipping on their wine, unbothered.
As the week progresses, viewers can expect a mix of mouth-watering meals, questionable cooking choices, and some seriously shady commentary as the contestants' secret scores are revealed.
"And for that, I give you a...!" The real ones will know.
