Multi-award-winning American folk sensation The Lumineers are set to land on local shores in February 2026 as part of their 2-city "The Automatic World Tour".

Known for their chart-topping hits like "Ho Hey" and "Ophelia," the band's anticipated return to SA is in celebration of their fourth studio album, "Automatic".

They previously enchanted SA fans in 2022 with their "Brightside World Tour".

Founded in 2005 by lead vocalist and guitarist Wesley Schultz and drummer Jeremiah Fraites, The Lumineers have risen to become one of the most successful and influential bands of their generation, blending alternative rock, Americana and heartfelt storytelling.

Over the years, they have carved out a place in the hearts of fans, achieving 24 No.1 hits across various radio formats, accumulating a staggering 6 billion streams and selling more than 1.5 million albums in the United States alone.

Their Spotify following boasts an impressive 22 million monthly listeners, coupled with a social media reach of 6.5 million.

"Automatic," the band's latest offering, features 16 tracks including the title track, "A**hole," "Strings" and the chart-topping "Same Old Song", which recently reached No 1 on Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart.

Reflecting on their journey, Schultz shared his pride in being one of the few groups touring who write all their own material, calling it a "unique badge of honour."

He and Fraites, however, are not shy about collaborating with other artists; their recent songwriting endeavours include contributions to tracks with pop icon P!nk, as well as rising stars James Bay and Zach Bryan.

After two decades of musical partnership, The Lumineers' latest release sees the duo traverse new sonic landscapes.

"People who think they have our number, they’ll be surprised," Fraites teased, while Schultz described the writing and recording process as one involving much "feeling our way through the dark."

Beyond music, The Lumineers are committed to driving social impact, advocating for environmental sustainability and supporting various causes such as human rights, youth mental health, music education, and hunger relief.

Their pandemic-era Colorado Gives Back benefit raised critical funds for live music and service industry workers affected by Covid-19.

The Lumineers will perform live in Cape Town on February 4, 2026, at the Grand Arena, GrandWest, and will take to the stage in Pretoria on February 7, 2026, at the SunBet Arena.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, August 15, at 9am on Ticketmaster.
