Kelly Khumalo’s highly anticipated 20th anniversary concert, scheduled for November 15 at the Meropa Outdoor Arena in Polokwane, has been cancelled.

The event was planned to honour Khumalo’s two decades in music, celebrating a career that has seen her win multiple awards, release chart-topping hits such as “Ngiyabuza” and “Sobabili” with the late Robbie Malinga, and become one of South Africa’s most celebrated voices.

However, the milestone concert will no longer go ahead. In an official statement shared on her Instagram page, Khumalo’s team expressed regret over the cancellation, assuring fans that refunds will be processed for all ticket holders.

“We regret to announce the cancellation of Kelly Khumalo’s 20th anniversary event. We fully understand the disappointment this decision may cause, and we extend our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience it may create.

“Refunds will be processed for all ticket holders, and we will provide updates regarding potential rescheduling of the event in the future. Thank you for your understanding and support during this time,” the statement read.

Khumalo also added her own message in the caption, writing, “My sincere apologies, tough decisions had to be made so this can be done right.”

The news comes after she announced her upcoming album “Rebirth”, which is scheduled for release on Friday, October 31.

In September, she released her uplifting single “Nyamezela” featuring Mondli Ngcobo, which will appear on her upcoming 11th studio album.

The single has already garnered some success, according to Radio Monitor, it generated over 13,2 million radio impacts on South African radio stations in the first week of October, weeks after its release.

Following the announcement, fans took to the comment section to share mixed reactions. Many voiced their understanding, saying they would be patient and await a new date.

“We will patiently wait for the new date. For now, we will count down to the album,” said @nands_music.

Others are asking for the event to be moved to Johannesburg instead of Polokwane. “I pray it will be rescheduled back to Johannesburg,” said @Sibonga_Mdunge.
