KickstArt presents their 2025 Durban festive panto is Sinbad the Sailor, a riotous romp over the Seven Seas, in the company of the famous sailor, Sinbad, and his madcap crew and family.

This December, the vibrant shores of Durban will welcome a spectacle of magic and merriment as KickstArt presents its highly anticipated festive pantomime, "Sinbad the Sailor."
This enchanting production promises to be a thrilling escapade across the Seven Seas, featuring the beloved sailor himself, Sinbad, and his audacious crew and family.
Running from December 4 until January 11 at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre on the UKZN campus, "Sinbad the Sailor" is poised to become a cherished family highlight of the festive season.
With its dazzling sets and costumes that evoke the exotic allure of the Arabian Nights, paired with infectious music and lively dance inspired by the rhythms of Bollywood, this production is set to deliver a truly unique pantomime experience.
The show is penned and directed by the acclaimed Steven Stead, known for his imaginative storytelling, with visual splendour crafted by designer Greg King. The choreography, infused with high-energy spirit and flair by Evashnee Pillay, ensures that audiences will be captivated from the outset.
Starring in this delightful theatre adventure are some familiar faces. Rory Booth takes centre stage as the adventurous Sinbad, while Bryan Hiles embodies the whimsical role of his mother, the flamboyant Dame Donna Kebab. Audiences can look forward to the comedic antics of Lyle Buxton as the evildoer Long John Slither, alongside Belinda Henwood as the cunning sorceress Morgiana the Magnificent and Roshanda Lewis as the enchanting love interest, Marina.
The cast is rounded out with the talents of Marion Loudon, Blessing Xaba, and Mthokozisi Zulu, creating a wonderful ensemble that brings this epic tale to life.
With performances scheduled at 2.30pm from Tuesday to Sunday and additional shows at 11am and 3.30pm on Saturday, the panto runs for a total of 2 hours and 25 minutes, including a 20-minute interval—though parents should note that the show is designed for audiences aged three and older.
