“Chicago - The Musical”

The classic musical “Chicago”, featuring memorable songs like "Razzle Dazzle" and captivating dances, returns this week for an iconic performance.

This live orchestra features local and international talent. Meanwhile, the production tells the story of a nightclub singer, a two-time murderer and a smooth-talking lawyer, all set within a cell block of sin.

Award-winning South African musical director, Kevin Kraak, leads the 11-piece orchestra, which features vibrant music and performances.

Where: The Artscape Opera House.

When: From Wednesday, August 27, until September 28. Show times differ.

“Alice in the Cape Flats”

The play explores resisting societal pressure, especially as a queer person, in a perfection-obsessed, insecure world.

This musical play follows the story of Alice, who lives in the Cape Flats and embarks on a journey through time, encountering fantastical characters who reveal pieces of the truth she's been searching for.

Where: The Masambe Theatre.

When: Friday, August 29, and Saturday, August 30, at 8pm.

“To Life, With Love”

Directed and performed by John Maythem, this poetic piece is an observation about life, the end of life and how one can meaningfully navigate through grief.

It centres around Thomas Michael Faulkner, who is diagnosed with the early stages of a dread disease.

Even though Faulkner is facing his own mortality, he still has many good years ahead. He's making choices about how he will live, and if there's a strong chance that he will recover.

Where: The Societas Theatre.

When: Runs until Saturday, August 30, at 7.15pm.
