This weekend, from October 4 - 5, the small West Coast town of Porterville will once again transform into an open-air gallery for the “Art for All” weekend.
Now in its eighth year, this family-friendly festival has become a highlight on the cultural calendar, drawing art lovers, day-trippers, and adventure seekers alike.
Just 150km from Cape Town, Porterville offers the perfect countryside escape where art meets mountain air, good food, and community spirit.
This year’s edition promises over 40 artists across 11 venues, ranging from historic churches and cosy studios to working farms.
Expect an eclectic mix of painting, pottery, ceramics, photography, textiles, and sculpture.
Entry is free, and with studios open all weekend, visitors can browse, buy, and connect directly with the makers behind the work.
The festival atmosphere extends beyond the galleries: food markets, church bazaars, and tea gardens will tempt visitors with local flavours, while workshops from Sip & Klei pottery to paint parties let everyone roll up their sleeves.
Families can soak up the laid-back country vibe, outdoor enthusiasts can explore the mountain setting, and foodies will find plenty of homemade treats along the way.
