Cape Town’s weather has been the absolute worst lately, and it seems no one is safe, not our wardrobes, not our plans and definitely not our sinuses.

After days of unpredictable conditions swinging between warm sunshine and icy, stormy moods, comedian Stuart Taylor has stepped in to say what many Capetonians have been thinking - just with a bit more humour (and accuracy).

In a video shared on Instagram, Taylor summed up the city’s tumultuous climate in a way that hit a little too close to home.

“I forgot that Cape Town has a split personality. In summer, it’s like, ‘I’m the best in the world,’ and then in winter it’s like, ‘I will destroy everything you and everything that you love,’” he joked.

It’s the kind of observation that doesn’t even need exaggeration.

Over the past few days, residents have dealt with sudden temperature drops, heavy rain and strong winds, all after being teased with milder conditions. One minute it’s sunglasses and iced coffee, the next it’s blankets, boots and soup.

“I don’t know why Cape Town is half German, but no warning, no transition, just vibes - next day flooding, done,” he added.

And that “no warning” part? That’s the real villain here. The city has been flipping moods faster than a group chat during load shedding.

The timing couldn’t be more accurate. Just this week alone, Capetonians have seen temperatures in the mid-teens, with showers and cloudy skies, before things swing right back to sunny, warmer conditions heading into the weekend.

That back-and-forth is exactly what’s been putting sinuses through absolute hell. One minute you’re fine, the next you’re sneezing, congested, and wondering if it’s flu or just Cape Town being Cape Town again.

Looking ahead, the rest of the week doesn’t exactly pick a personality either. Expect a mix of sunshine and milder temperatures climbing into the low-to-mid 20s before another cool, rainy spell creeps back in by Sunday.

So yes, the city is warming up… briefly. Just don’t get too comfortable, Cape Town clearly isn’t done with the drama.
