Congratulatory messages filled the air over the weekend as South African comedian, Mpho “Popps” Modikoane, celebrated his union with his longtime partner, Latoyah Mei-Modikoane.

The pair, who share a child, Imani, celebrated their union in a traditional gifting ceremony, and they looked stunning as they wore Xhosa beige and black traditional attire.

The internet was filled with clips of their wedding celebrations as friends, family and colleagues shared the glimpse of how the celebration went down.

During an episode of “Podcast and Chill with MacG”, Modikoane, who was featured as a guest, explained the ceremony that took place over the weekend called “Ho hlabisa bohadi”, meaning when the groom gets welcomed into the bride’s family.

“Traditionally, when we get married, right? The bride has to welcome you kubo (her family), and you have to welcome her kini (his family).

“So you do those exchanging gift ceremony, so that’s what we are preparing for,” he said.

In one clip, the 38-year-old groom is seen leading the bridal party on the dance floor as they dance and celebrate.

In another clip, the bride is sitting down in what appears to be a ceremony where the families exchange gifts.

In February, the couple celebrated their 15th anniversary as the “PNC” podcaster took to Instagram to celebrate their love by sharing two pictures of when their love story began and how it's going.

He captioned his post: “How it started VS how it’s going. Happy anniversary to my beautiful wife, thank you for standing by my side through it all. 15 years in the game, 2 years married, here’s to a lifetime together.”

This wedding celebration marks another new chapter and milestone in their life as the couple made their union official in a civil ceremony in 2023.

Joining the couple in the vibrant celebrations included Mzansi’s celebs, such as Nomzamo Mbatha, who was a part of the bridal party.

The groom’s colleagues, Farieda “Pharoahfi” Metsileng and Tsitsi Chiumya, were invited to the wedding as they were seen in multiple clips that were circulating online, while Chiumya also shared various clips as he celebrated his friend’s milestone.

Even though friends and family shared glimpses of the celebrations, the bride and groom have not yet posted their vibrant traditional wedding celebrations.

Social media users congratulated the couple on their union.

“Congratulations to Mpho and his beautiful better half,” one user wrote.

“Congratulations, guys, anisebahle (you look beautiful),” another user commented.
