Meet Carol Morena, the brilliant woman behind Mamelodi Sundowns defender and midfielder Thapelo Morena. 

Before the fame and the packed stadiums, Carol and Thapelo’s love story began in Kroonstad, Free State, where they both attended Dr Reginald Cingo High School. 

What started as a high school romance has grown into a lifelong partnership grounded in love, respect and shared dreams.

The couple dated for several years before discreetly tying the knot in July.

They have mastered the art of keeping things under wraps; even their Instagram feeds have a subtle confirmation of their special day.

Today, they are proud parents of three adorable children and continue to be admired by fans for the strength of their relationship. 

Their bond has always been seen as a genuine example of lasting love, one that has remained steady even as Thapelo’s soccer career has flourished.

Beyond being a supportive wife and mother, Carol has carved out her own path as a successful businesswoman. 

She is the founder of Carol M Lingerie, a brand that promotes confidence and celebrates femininity. 

Carol later introduced Leak-Assist Period Panties, a product that focuses on comfort and dignity for women when it’s that time of the month. The collection has been embraced for its thoughtful design and inclusivity, also becoming popular within the LGBTQIA+ community.

Speaking about her work, Carol has often highlighted the importance of creating products that make people feel seen, included and confident in their own skin.

Earlier this year, Carol made an appearance on eNCA’s "The South African Morning" to talk about her latest project.

Watching from home, 32-year-old Thapelo could not hide his pride. 

He shared clips from the show, celebrating his wife’s achievements and her mission to empower women. The couple has become known for uplifting one another, whether Carol is cheering from the stands or Thapelo is proudly backing her business ventures.

Though they live a private life, the Morenas are not shy about celebrating their love and milestones out loud. 

In August, when Thapelo celebrated his birthday, Carol once again showed how deeply she admires the man behind the soccer stardom.

Sharing a heartfelt message online, she wrote, “Today, I celebrate more than just your birthday; I celebrate the man you are. You have been my anchor, my safe place, and the biggest believer in me, even on days I didn’t believe in myself. Your love is steady, your discipline inspiring, and your aura lights up every space you walk into.”

She went on to describe his quiet strength, sense of humour and the joy of watching him as a father to their children.

“You’re funny when I need to laugh, strict when I need structure, and supportive through every up and down.

"Watching you be a father to our kids is one of the greatest joys of my life. The way they look at you with admiration it’s because you lead by example, with grace, kindness and unwavering dedication.”

Carol ended her touching tribute by writing, “I’m so proud of the man you are. The hard worker, the protector, the provider, the dream builder. And I’m beyond grateful to do this life with you. May this year bring you more peace, recognition, and happiness, you so selflessly give to everyone else.

"I love you deeply, today, tomorrow, and always. Happy birthday, my King.”
