Durban recently hosted the spectacular BuKhosi and Business Gala Dinner, affectionately known as the "MONROYAL."
Organised by the Monarchs and Royal Leadership Council NPC, this prestigious event took place at the luxurious Radisson Blu Hotel Umhlanga, where the ambience sparkled with the elegance of South African royalty.
The evening was a vibrant celebration of collaboration, attended by Amakhosi from various kingdoms across the nation, alongside influential business leaders, investors, and policymakers.
Guests arrived in stunning attire, showcasing a harmonious blend of traditional and modern styles, while the red carpet added a touch of glamour to the night.
Among the eye-catching attendees was Princess Beauty Fumbatha from the AmaXhosa Royal Kingdom, who turned heads with her modern interpretation of traditional isiXhosa attire.

Her ensemble featured a double-tiered maxi skirt in a captivating blend of royal blue, orange, black, and white, perfectly paired with a chic white blouse.
Nkosi Mbhengi, the iNgonyama yaseLangeni, commanded attention in his traditional leopard-skin robe, signifying royal authority and spiritual connection.
The distinctive umqhele (leopard-skin crown) he wore further amplified his regal presence, embodying strength, wisdom, and agility - the very attributes of a leader.
Also making a bold impression was Princess Nandile Ndamase from the Mpondo Royal Kingdom, dazzling in a custom-made traditional mermaid gown.
“This outfit was made twice; I had it redesigned because I wanted flair. I love the mermaid style,” she remarked.
Her look was completed with beaded jewellery that reflects Mpondo culture, showcasing the vibrant colours that characterise her heritage.

Prince Zukisani Ndamase complemented her elegance in a chocolate brown suit adorned with traditional accessories, including a beaded headband inscribed with their family name and a leopard-print shoulder scarf.
He emphasised the importance of cultural identity, stating, “It’s important when you are dressing to know who you are and where you come from. The way you dress shows who you are and where you come from.”
Lastly, Ndlunkulu Thembi Manana from the Manana Royal Kingdom turned heads with a striking pink dress that hugged her figure elegantly, enhanced with shimmering diamantés.
She paired her outfit with a traditional head wrap designed by a local artisan and cream Valentino shoes, expressing her desire to blend tradition with contemporary style.
“I usually go for traditional dresses, but today I wanted to mix it up," she revealed, while highlighting her newfound passion for makeup.
The evening was a testament to the rich tapestry of South African culture and the vibrant spirit of its people.
As Amakhosi exchanged ideas with business leaders and policymakers, the gala set a precedent for future collaborations that not only celebrate their heritage but also pave the way for mutual growth and prosperity.
