The late DJ Warras, born Warrick Stock, had a fashion sense that reflected his career as a radio host and TV presenter.
His style adapted to different settings, from formal attire for television appearances to casual clothing in his personal life.
Warras was tragically shot and killed in Johannesburg’s Central Business District on Tuesday, December 16. He was 40 years old.
The media personality and businessman was fatally shot in broad daylight while parking his car.
Known as the Shady Lurker, Warras brought energy, humour and support into every space he occupied. His influence and kindness extended beyond his immediate circle, and he was highly regarded by friends, colleagues and the broader South African entertainment community.
Though he was not heavily invested in fashion, certain elements defined his style. He often wore smart suits, particularly black suits with black or white shirts, during his time as a presenter on the SABC1 music show “Live AMP”.
For a more casual look, he frequently wore black leather jackets with blue or black jeans and sneakers. His everyday style leaned toward casual layering, including hoodies, sweatshirts, shirts, jeans and track pants, paired with sneakers and caps. Comfort was a clear priority in his clothing choices.
Warras did not wear many accessories, letting his full-arm tattoos stand out as a personal statement.
Fans also noticed his frequent use of black in his wardrobe. While he never publicly commented on a preference for the colour, black is popular among performers for practical and aesthetic reasons.
It is versatile and timeless, suitable for different settings, and gives a professional, confident appearance.
In club and performance settings, black also fits common trends among DJs and music performers.
Warras’ fashion choices, though simple, reflected his personality. He valued comfort while maintaining a recognisable, consistent style.
