South African YouTuber and influencer Snikiwe “Sni” Mhlongo clapped back at critics who claimed her outfit did not give “Bridgerton” vibes after she revealed what she wore to attend the season four premiere event held in Cape Town.

The fashion influencer wore a simple yet elegant white satin dress that featured a beaded cowrie shell fringe at the bottom.

To elevate her outfit, she wore a stunning mask that was made out of cowrie shells, and because that was the standout feature of her outfit, when it comes to jewellery, she chose to only wear a few bangles, which was a great choice.

Mhlongo certainly nailed the AfroCouture Masquerade theme, and although she looked amazing, a lot of fans did not like how she approached it.

Mhlongo was called out for “missing the point”, and many expressed that her outfit was not on brand but rather gave African theme vibes, and the YouTuber subtly said, "You can try it with other people, but definitely not with me.”

Taking to Instagram, she shared a story of a fan who replied to her previous story, who criticised her outfit and said: “Girl, did you even watch the series?”

The award-winning content creator replied to the fan by showing her a screenshot of the invite, highlighting the theme for the premier event.

Her next story after that was a picture board, which broke down the theme, to give fans an idea of what was expected from the attendees.

While Mhlongo’s outfit kept tongues wagging the whole weekend, she was not the only celeb who made waves on social media.

Take a look at some of our favourite looks:

Bonang Matheba

The media personality looked stunning in her pink gown that featured lace detailing and beaded pearls that wrapped around the dress, perfectly nailing the theme. She paired the gown with a matching pink hand fan and, of course, a mask.

Dineo Langa

The actress looked gorgeous in a brown gown that featured a raffia paper fringe and the top was made out of wood. Creative and stunning!

Zozibini Tunzi-Bolowana

The former Miss Universe kept it simple yet elegant with a black dress that had gold cowrie shells all over it.

Considering that the dress was the statement piece of her outfit, she accessorised it with a dramatic black hat and black gloves.

Blue Mbombo

One thing Mbombo is going to do is nail the theme. The TV personality wore a stunning green gown with a dramatic bottom and a dramatic gold hat as well.

The dress featured beaded detailing on the top half, which went down to her hip.
