The Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Annual Gala Dinner, which is a longstanding event on the city's business calendar takes place on October 29 at the PlayGlobe at Suncoast casino.

In a statement, Palesa Phili, CEO of the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry NPC, said this year’s event, gathering between 700 and 1000 distinguished guests, has the inspiring theme “REVIVE, REFORM, REINVENT eThekwini” which aims to reflect the resilience and innovative spirit of Durban's vibrant business community.

She said the “ultimate business networking event has been a celebratory tradition since our establishment in 1856”.

This year's theme, incorporates the Durban Chamber's objective, which is geared towards driving a conducive business environment, for businesses in eThekwini to grow, thrive and be sustainable.

“Collaboration is at the heart of business support and sustainability, the collaboration of public and private sector from corporate businesses to small, medium and micro enterprises. Therefore, the theme is the perfect fit, it is focused on business sustainability through collaborative effort, reviving what we have lost as the city, province of KwaZulu-Natal, reforming tarnished relationships and collaborating across sectors, and to reinvent ourselves as businesses in an evolving world that is constantly changing, where we need to remain competitive in a business environment that is technologically evolving,” said Phili.

This year's gala dinner will also mark the inauguration of the new president and leadership board of the Durban Chamber.

The statement noted that the president of the Durban Chamber is supported by a strong leadership team with non-executive board members, compact chairs and deputies who come with strong executive leadership, a wealth of experience and pioneers in their field, from their respective industries.

Phili, on behalf of the Durban Chamber, thanked partners and sponsors for the gala dinner.

“Beyond celebration, the Gala Dinner serves as a strategic engagement offering unparalleled opportunities for networking and collaboration. It is a space where ideas are exchanged, partnerships are forged, and visions for a thriving eThekwini are collectively shaped.

“The success of the Annual Gala Dinner is made possible by the generous support of its esteemed sponsors and partners. This year, the event proudly acknowledges the backing of FNB, Toyota, Unilever, Azisa Consulting, Gagasi FM, Woolworths, SAB, The Mercury, and Campari. Their commitment not only reflects confidence in eThekwini’s future but also exemplifies the collaborative spirit that propels the business community forward.”
