With billions of rand in investment pledges earmarked for KwaDukuza, the area is proving to be one of the most attractive areas for business in the province.
That is the view of the KwaDukuza Mayor S’duduzo Gumede, who was speaking after his municipality racked up close to R26 billion in investment pledges at the KwaZulu-Natal Investment Conference held last week.
The municipality said in a statement that Gumede has welcomed new investments and expansion projects announced at the conference, where KwaDukuza secured a share of R26.5 billion, which translates to 26.47% of the total R100.1 billion pledged in the province.
Gumede said that the investments will lead to significant economic growth and job creation.
“This announcement underlines our position as one of the most attractive investment destinations in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. We remain steadfast in our growth, knowing that our economy continues to thrive despite global challenges. Accordingly, these commitments will translate to decent jobs and help grow our economy.
“The KwaZulu-Natal Investment Conference chapter is a historic vote of confidence, which is aligned with our investor retention and expansion approach. The conference has not only affirmed that we are a leading investor destination but one of the most economically viable and fastest-growing secondary cities in the country. With just six of the 34 catalytic projects across the province, we are turning the tide towards a greater path in our vision to build a sustainable economic life for all,” said Gumede.
