Tributes posted on social media have described a murdered Richards Bay man as a “humble soul” who always had a ready smile.
Former colleagues and friends of retired salesman Ranjankumar Sew, 57, posted tributes to him after private security company Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) said on Thursday that he had been found dead at the Aquadene housing project site in Richards Bay.
Sew had been reported missing after he failed to return home after leaving to go to the Brackenham Clinic on Tuesday.
The Rusa statement said his family had subsequently received information that his vehicle, a white Toyota Avanza, had been spotted on a camera in the KwaMbonambi area, and they also received a demand of R5000.
Rusa said Sew's vehicle was located in northern KwaZulu-Natal late on Wednesday by police and the two suspects found in the vehicle were taken into custody.
In one tribute describing Sew, a former colleague wrote: “The most amazing person I have ever met. Always smiling, always helpful and just a truly special person. My deepest condolences to all of his family and friends.”
Another tribute said the community was devastated and in total shock.
“Most heartbreaking news, such a humble and most fun loving soul who would not even harm a fly to leave this world in such a tragic and painful manner.”
