In a corporate environment often defined by financial mismanagement and compliance failures, one woman at Hyundai South Africa has built a reputation on consistency and accuracy.
Renske van den Heever, regional financial manager in Gauteng, began her career as a receptionist after entering the workplace at a young age following the passing of her father. Taking on early responsibility, she worked to support her family while pursuing her ambition of becoming an accountant.
Twenty years later, her career is defined by a consistent track record in financial reporting and compliance.
Since being promoted to accountant and later to her current role, Van Den Heever has achieved 15 consecutive clean audits. The record includes zero unauthorised, irregular or wasteful expenditure and full internal compliance.
“Accounting is not just about compliance but responsibility because at the end of the day, it is about doing things right, doing your best even when no one is watching,” she says.
“For me, compliance is binary. You are either 100% compliant or non-compliant. I am highly detail-oriented and thorough in my work by reviewing journals and reports very carefully before submission. I approach every task with dedication and a mindset of continuous learning, no matter how small it may seem.”
Operating within a sector where financial discipline affects pricing, operations and customer confidence, her role centres on ensuring that internal processes meet required standards and that audits are consistently passed.
Her work has been recognised within the business, with management pointing to her consistency and attention to detail.
“Renske represents the highest standards of financial stewardship,” says Stanley Anderson, chief executive officer of Hyundai South Africa.
“Her 15-year record of zero overspending and clean audits is extremely impressive. We are proud of her exceptional work ethic and congratulate her on this major achievement.”
Her manager, Thembeka Ngubane, says that her influence extends beyond compliance into team development and knowledge sharing.
“Renske is exceptionally meticulous. She does not leave room for error,” says Ngubane.
Colleagues describe her as detail-focused and committed to her work, with a strong emphasis on mentoring aspiring accountants within the organisation.
Hyundai also confirmed the renewal of its sponsorship of the 2026 Spar National Grand Prix 10km Road Running Series, following its initial partnership in 2025.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with the Spar National Grand Prix Series. Once again, one lucky attendee at each race stands a chance to drive away in a Hyundai Exter, and this is our way of celebrating South Africans’ energy, on and off the track,” says Anderson.
The series takes place across five cities, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Pretoria and Johannesburg, bringing together participants in events focused on fitness and community engagement.
