Confusion reigned regarding a shooting at a Mr Price store in the Cape Town city centre on Tuesday as the police and the MEC for community safety gave contradicting statements as to how the incident unfolded.
Police spokesperson Ezra October said a male suspect in his late twenties was shot at the store while he tried to disarm a female police reservist of her service pistol inside the shop at St Georges Mall.
The incident happened just before lunch time on Tuesday.
“The reservist was embroiled in a fight with the suspect inside the shop and she managed to fight him off and a shooting incident occurred inside and the suspect was injured,” said October. - Cape Argus
