Police are looking for leads that will help them to arrest three men who were involved in the killing of the Ekuthuleni Primary School principal in Bloekombos, Kraaifontein.
Police spokesperson Captain Frederick van Wyk said three men approached the principal’s car near the entrance of the school in Henzikile Street and started shooting at around 7am.
“Three unidentified males approached the victims’ vehicle and opened fire at them, which led to the death of a 54-year-old male and an injured female who was admitted to hospital. The suspects fled the scene in an unknown vehicle,” he said.
Western Cape MEC of police oversight and community safety Anroux Marais and MEC of education David Maynier expressed shock about the killing of the principal.
“This is a terrible tragedy for the school and community, and we offer our deepest condolences to the principal’s loved ones. Our district team is on the ground at the school to offer support to the staff and learners today and in the coming days.
“We trust that the SAPS will leave no stone unturned in locating and apprehending the perpetrators,” MEC Maynier said.
