Meet Remi, our September winner and the other finalists in the Independent on Saturday’s Pet of the Month competition.

Remi, a Biewer Terrier from Umbilo, is just 8 weeks old. She is a bright and loving little pup with a big personality. Her mom says: "She’s incredibly smart, though her stubborn streak sometimes shows when she wants things her own way. Always playful and full of mischief, she has a knack for doing something silly that makes everyone laugh.

Doing her home work is Petunia, 11, an American Short Hair from Pietermaritzburg

"As she trains to be a fur therapist at a remedial school, she has quickly stolen the hearts of the children, who adore having her in the classroom each day. Her joyful spirit and gentle nature bring comfort, fun, and lots of smiles to everyone around her."

Remi wins an exciting new prize open to all pet winners this year – an exclusive photoshoot from pet photographer Tilanie Grote worth R1 500.

Taking a break from being a superhero is Hunter, 6, a mixed breed from Chatsworth
