Singer Patience Mahema is serenaded by the icon of love: not one, but two Elvises for Valentine’s Day - Frederick Fourie (left) and Aaron McIlroy. For generations, Elvis has epitomized love and romance. Fans of the fabulous crooner have two chances to enjoy his music this weekend.
Fourie and Mahema will be singing in Mzansi Ballet’s Private Presley – The Ballet. Sean Bovim’s powerful reimagining of the life of Elvis Presley told through ballet and song is at the Milkwood Theatre in Durban North.
On a rare trip to Durban, Mzansi Ballet is a company that identifies and cultivates young South African talent bringing together emerging artists with seasoned professionals to create performances that convey authentic South African stories while respecting the cultural and historical aspects of classical ballet. Notable productions include Benghazi, When Ballet Meets Jazz, Swan Lake, and The Gold Rhino of Mapungubwe.
McIlroy is performing as Elvis this weekend in Bump and Grind - a Valentine musical comedy with wife Lisa Bobbert at the Rhumbelow Umbilo.
