The Tactical Mobilisation and Policing Directorate (TMPD) has taken a bold step in restoring order in Mamelodi, with the demolition of nine illegally erected informal structures and the closure of three taverns.

In recent months, complaints regarding these informal structures had surged, with reports indicating their use as hideouts for criminal activity.

The TMPD's actions were initiated following reliable information that suggested these sites were routinely exploited by criminals before and after committing offences in the area.

By targeting these infiltrations into the community, the TMPD underscores its commitment to proactive enforcement and the establishment of a safer environment for residents.

In addition to tackling illegal structures, the TMPD enforced city by-law regulations by closing down three local taverns that were operating without the necessary establishment licences.

Authorities found that these taverns were in clear violation of the city's stringent by-law standards, contributing to a range of public safety concerns.
