Eastern Cape police have launched a manhunt following the brutal killing of four people in Airport Valley, Walmer, during the early hours of Friday morning.

The victims, identified as two brothers and two teenage girls aged between 17 and 22, were discovered with fatal gunshot wounds inside a residential shack.

Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana, stated that officers were dispatched after reports were received via radio control regarding a shooting incident at approximately 12.34 am.

“Officers proceeded to a residence on Ndlovu Street, Airport Valley in Walmer. Upon arrival, they were met by the complainant outside the premises, who led them to a shack on the property,” Gantana said.

Inside the structure, police discovered the bodies of the four victims. “The deceased are two brothers aged 20 and 22, a 19-year-old female, and a 17-year-old female,” Gantana confirmed.

The police’s preliminary investigation revealed that the 22-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the right side of his face, his 20-year-old brother sustained two gunshot wounds to the right side of his face, and both teenagers sustained gunshot wounds to the head.

The complainant reportedly told police he had briefly left the property to visit a nearby shop and discovered the bodies upon his return.

Police said the motive for the attack remains unknown at this stage and is part of the ongoing investigation.

Four counts of murder have been opened, but no arrests have been made.
