Police in the Western Cape have confirmed they are investigating a burglary at the home of alleged Sexy Boys gang leader, Jerome ‘Donkie’ Booysen.

The home invasion took place just after 11am on Tuesday.

At the time of the incident, the domestic worker on the premises was at home and was ambushed by the unknown suspects.

The woman was tied up.

The provincial police spokesperson, Captain Frederick van Wyk, confirmed the incident.

“Bellville South police registered a house robbery case following an incident on Tuesday, at 11.05 am at a premises in Glenhaven, Bellville South. According to reports, the female worker in the house was tied up. No injuries reported. The attackers were unidentified males,” van Wyk said.

At the time of the burglary, Booysen was not home. It also remains unclear what exactly was stolen from the house.

“The homeowner was not present at the house at the time of the incident. The investigation continues regarding items that were stolen. No arrest has been made yet,” van Wyk said.

Booysen is currently in the spotlight as he is on trial in the Western Cape High Court for an array of charges, including the murder of steroid king, Brian Wainstein.

Wainstein was murdered at his Constantia, Cape Town, home in August 2017 while asleep next to his child and spouse.

Booysen’s co-accused, alleged underworld kingpins Mark Lifman and Andre Naude, were gunned down in recent months as the trial continues.

The group was served with an indictment of 38 charges against them.

These charges include murder, conspiracy to commit murder, incitement to commit murder, attempted murder, money laundering, corruption, defeating the ends of justice and charges relating to the Prevention of Organised Crimes Act (POCA).

The trial continues.
