Sakhithemba brings hope to unemployed youth

Scores of unemployed graduates with environmental qualifications will benefit from Sakhithemba graduate development programme, says Eastern Cape housing department on Saturday.

The department's spokesperson, Lwandile Sicwetsha said that Sakhithemba is a new initiative aimed at creating opportunities for young people and it provides much needed help in housing projects in the province including the rectification of defective houses.

Graduates with Building Science, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management and Town Planning qualifications are recommended.

Over six million will be spent on this programme for the current financial year running over 15 million in the next three years.

The programme will be officially launched at 10.30am on Tuesday October 28 in Wilsonia, Reeston in East London. - Sapa
