Three people were killed in a head-on collision in the Dannhauser area. 

According to KZN Private Ambulance, the accident took place on Wednesday and involved two vehicles. 

Three people died on the scene, while two others were rushed to the hospital in critical condition. 

"Paramedics arrived on the scene and immediately initiated advanced life support to the injured," said spokesperson Chris Botha. 

"The critically injured patients were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Sadly, despite the best efforts of our paramedics, three individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene."

Botha said an investigation into the cause of the collision is currently underway by the relevant authorities.

In another accident, a mother and her two young kids were critically injured following an accident with a cash truck. 

The accident took place on the R33 near Pietermaritzburg. 

"The collision resulted in five individuals sustaining injuries. A mother and her two children (ages approximately 6 and 2) in the private car are in critical condition. Two occupants of the cash transport vehicle are in serious condition.

"KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service paramedics arrived on the scene swiftly and provided immediate medical attention before transporting the injured to nearby hospitals. One security guard from the cash transport was trapped and required extrication using specialized rescue equipment."
