Public Works Minister to outline preliminary findings into Redcliffe building collapse that killed five

Public Works Minister Dean Macpherson is expected to brief the media on Wednesday on preliminary findings into the Redcliffe building collapse in KwaZulu-Natal that claimed five lives.

The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson, will on Wednesday, December 17, 2025,  brief the media on the outcomes of a preliminary investigation into a deadly building collapse in Redcliffe, North of Durban.

In a statement, the minister’s spokesperson, James de Villiers, said the briefing would focus on the outcomes of the Council of the Built Environment’s preliminary investigation into the collapse of a four-storey building in Redcliffe, KwaZulu-Natal, which claimed the lives of five people.

De Villiers said Macpherson would be joined by the Member of the Executive Council for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, the MEC for Public Works and Infrastructure, Martin Meyer, the Mayor of the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, Cyril Xaba, and the Council for the Built Environment’s chief executive officer, Dr Msizi Myeza, who would deliver updates from their respective portfolios.
