A motor vehicle crash involving a taxi and a trailer caused disruption on the N2 highway a few kilometres after the Stanger on-ramp, heading south towards Ballito in KwaZulu-Natal, late on Friday, according to Arrive Alive.
Emergency-response teams from Taurus Medical & Security Services were dispatched to the scene.
The trailer, which was attached to the taxi, became detached and overturned, while the taxi itself sustained damage.
Officials did not immediately report any serious injuries or fatalities, but confirmed that the trailer detached and overturned.
Motorists are being urged to exercise caution on the N2, especially in the stretch between the Stanger on-ramp and Ballito, as emergency services clear the scene and recover the overturned trailer.
Road-safety advocates say this latest crash underscores the danger of unsecured trailers and remind drivers to check that loads and towing connections are secure before hitting the road.
The Ballito accident comes just days after another tragic crash on a major highway in Mpumalanga
On Thursday, three people, including a young boy, were killed and several others were injured in a head-on collision between two bakkies on the N4 Toll Road near Middelburg Dam.
According to the provincial Community Safety spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, negligent driving is suspected as the cause of the collision.
