Golden Arrow condemns viral video of passenger urinating on bus

IOL Reporter|Published

Golden Arrow Bus Services has condemned the actions of a female passenger after a video surfaced on social media showing a woman urinating between seats aboard one of its buses, while visibly intoxicated commuters looked on.

The incident was recorded and shared by commuter Stanton Bill, who expressed outrage at the behaviour he witnessed, describing it as disrespectful and deeply inappropriate, particularly in a public setting.

According to Bill, several female passengers were allegedly under the influence of alcohol and behaved in a lewd and disruptive manner during the trip. He claimed they exposed themselves to fellow passengers — including elderly women — and showed no regard for public decency.

In a statement posted on his social media, Bill said: “I was disrespected in that bus as a man, and I believe any other man would have felt the same way. Clearly, my presence meant nothing to the women involved — or to anyone else on the bus. They drank alcohol, exposed themselves, and behaved disgracefully in front of everyone.”

He continued: “There were two older women seated next to me, and no respect was shown to them either. This is public transport — the words ‘public’ and ‘transport’ clearly meant nothing in this situation.”

The video he posted shows a woman kneeling between two seats while urinating, with fellow passengers reacting with visible discomfort.

Golden Arrow spokesperson Bronwen Dyke-Beyer confirmed that the company is aware of the video and described the behaviour as "completely unacceptable".

“The conduct shown is in no way representative of the expectations we have of our passengers,” she said.

“Our Conditions of Carriage prohibit any behaviour that may compromise the safety or comfort of fellow passengers — this includes consuming alcohol on board, travelling while excessively intoxicated, or engaging in disruptive behaviour.”

Dyke-Beyer added that while bus drivers are trained to manage such situations within operational limits, they are not always aware of incidents occurring behind them. In this instance, the driver was reportedly unaware of the events as they unfolded.

“Passengers who witness behaviour that contravenes our policies are encouraged to alert the driver at the earliest safe opportunity. The driver can then contact our control room for assistance or escalate the matter to law enforcement if necessary,” she said.

Golden Arrow has reiterated its commitment to passenger safety and has encouraged all commuters to report inappropriate or unlawful conduct.

The Daily Voice attempted to contact Stanton Bill for further comment but received no response at the time of publication.
