Joburg Ballet School brings ‘Seasons of Dance’ to Soweto Theatre

Joburg Ballet School will present Seasons of Dance, a festive year-end showcase of young talent, in collaboration with Maison De La Dance, at the Soweto Theatre on Sunday, December 7, 2025.

The vibrant production will feature performances by dancers from the Joburg Ballet School, led by Keke Chele, Tshego Masoabi and Carmen Patterson, alongside students from Maison De La Dance under the direction of Thabiso Manare.

Directed by Chele, the programme highlights the growth, dedication and creative development of the students, who will share the stage with their professional counterparts. The showcase will also include guest performances by Joburg Ballet and the Soweto Youth Orchestra, promising an afternoon that reflects the energy and diversity of Johannesburg’s cultural landscape.

Seasons of Dance celebrates the passion and hard work of the students and marks an important milestone in Joburg Ballet’s commitment to talent development, community engagement and expanding access to world-class dance education.

“These young dancers represent the future of the South African performance industry and we are thrilled to present them on a stage that honours their talent and potential,” says the Joburg Ballet team.

Joburg Ballet expressed gratitude to partners supporting the Joburg Ballet School and its education and training programmes, including Joburg Theatre, the City of Joburg, Oppenheimer Memorial Trust, Ball Family Foundation, MAC Viva Glam, Dis-Chem Foundation, HotCares and the Albert Wessels Trust.

The performance takes place at the Soweto Theatre in Jabulani at 3pm. Tickets cost R75 and can be booked online.
