Usain Bolt will visit Dr Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt in Germany this week as he seeks a cure for the injury that is threatening his Olympic dream.
There are worries the grade one hamstring tear which forced Bolt, 29, to pull out of the Jamaica Senior National Championships at the weekend is more problematic than anticipated. Bolt has a close relationship with Muller-Wohlfahrt, and hopes the former Bayern Munich club doctor will ensure he is ready for the Anniversary Games in London, which start on July 22.
Bolt’s place in the Olympic squad for the 100m is assured but he is running out of chances to clock a qualifying time in the 200m. ‘There is one event in London for him,’ said Ludlow Watts, the Jamaican Athletics Administrative Association’s team manager. ‘I’m sure he will use that opportunity to run a good time.’
Bolt’s training partner Yohan Blake showed breathtaking speed in Kingston this weekend, proving that his injury problems are behind him.
‘A lot of people wrote me off but I have taken my time and worked my way back. I’m getting close to where I want to be,’ said Blake, who is contemplating running at the Anniversary Games. – Daily Mail
