Proteas fast bowler Nandre Burger told the reporters that the camp is filled with excitement following the historic Test series triumph in Guwahati and that the squad is expecting good scores in the upcoming white ball leg of the tour.
South Africa completed a sparkling 408-run victory in the second Test earlier this week, sealing a 2-0 series sweep against India, their first series triumph on Indian soil in 25 years.
On Sunday, the Proteas will switch focus from Test cricket to One Day cricket as the first of three ODIs is set to get underway in Ranchi.
Proteas fast bowler Burger told reporters on Friday that the camp is filled with excitement ahead of the first ODI.
"The mood in the camp is very exciting. Everyone's ready to go in a different format. Obviously, the test win is incredible," Burger said.
"It's great for South African cricket. It's just to show that we're here to keep dominating and that's what we want to keep doing in all three formats."
Having had spin-friendly wickets in the Test series, where there were many low scores and only one individual century, Burger told the media that the side is expecting good batting wickets in the ODI series.
"I think in India, the one-day wickets are normally pretty good for batting; the scores are generally higher than all around the world," said Burger.
"So, I think we can expect a few more runs. But I think, if we bowl well and put pressure on, obviously, spin will be quite crucial in the middle overs.
"But if we can bowl well as a unit, we can hopefully restrict them to scores or be able to chase down scores that we restrict them to."
India will be boosted with the return of global superstars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli into the squad, having not had their services in the Test series, as they have retired.
Burger will be bowling against them for the first time in ODI cricket. However, having played against them in Test cricket here at home a year ago, the quick is excited to face the challenge.
"I haven't played against them in ODI cricket, just in test cricket. But, I think, obviously, you always want to compete against the people who are ranked top in the world and who have a reputation," he said.
"I think that's what it's all about. You want to compete against them and hopefully get them out. But I think the whole team's just ready to go for the series, and we're all looking forward to competing against India in their backyard and hopefully doing the country proud."
The first ODI will get underway on Sunday at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi, with the second and third games set to be staged in Raipur and Visakhapatnam, respectively.
