With the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season fast approaching, clubs across the country are looking for smart acquisitions.
A handful of players have now become available for various reasons, including relegation, being out of favour, or release.
The five topping that list, all with top-flight experience, could represent bargain signings for clubs seeking depth, creativity or leadership in the new campaign.
1. Monnapule Saleng (Out of favour at Orlando Pirates)
Barely two seasons ago, Monnapule Saleng was tipped as one of the most dangerous wingers in the Premier Soccer League and a key Bafana Bafana prospect.
Now, after falling out of favour at Orlando Pirates, the 27-year-old’s future remains uncertain.
With game time limited under previous coach José Riveiro and questions over his fitness under new boss Abdeslam Ouaddou, a loan or permanent move could revive his career.
Few players in the league offer his pace and left-footed threat from the right wing.
2. Hashim Domingo (Following Cape Town City’s relegation)

One of the biggest shocks of last season was Cape Town City’s relegation, and it’s already opened the door for player exits.
Among the standout names is Hashim Domingo — a creative midfielder with experience at Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits.
Domingo’s contract situation is unclear, but his technical quality and versatility in midfield should draw interest from teams looking to dictate play. At 29, he still has plenty to offer.
3. Asanele Velebayi (Cape Town Spurs relegated to amateur Football)
Cape Town Spurs’ double relegation — first from the Premiership, then the Motsepe Foundation Championship — has left players like Velebayi in limbo.
The 22-year-old winger was one of the few bright sparks in a struggling team and could be a steal for any side looking to build with youth.
Quick, direct and fearless, Velebayi won admirers for his work rate and dribbling ability. He would benefit from better structure and coaching — something that top-tier clubs can provide.
4. Rowan Human (Released by AmaZulu)

Having struggled for consistency at AmaZulu, midfielder Rowan Human is now a free agent and in need of a fresh start. Still only 24, he remains one of the more technically gifted players available on the market.
Whether playing in central midfield or as a roaming playmaker, Human has the skillset to influence matches — but he needs a system that suits him and a coach willing to be patient.
5. Andile Jali (Released by Chippa United)

At 35, Jali may no longer be the force he once was at Sundowns or Orlando Pirates, but his release from Chippa United presents an opportunity for a club in need of a veteran presence.
The defensive midfielder still has the tactical awareness and leadership qualities to contribute — especially in a squad with younger players needing guidance. The only question is whether he still has the hunger to compete.
With plenty of movement still expected in the window, don’t be surprised if some of these names return to the top flight in new colours before the season kicks off.
