Kaizer Chiefs have made a blistering start to the 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign, and the coming weeks will put their credentials to the test across domestic and continental fronts.

Amakhosi currently sit second on the Premiership table, unbeaten after five matches. Four wins and a single draw, with no goals conceded, have provided the perfect foundation for Nasreddine Nabi’s side.

But the next two weeks present a defining stretch. Between September 16 and 27, Chiefs will play five matches across the league and the CAF Confederation Cup. It is a congested run that will test their squad depth, rotation policy and consistency.

September 16 – Sekhukhune United (Home, 7.30pm)

Chiefs resume action after the international break against Sekhukhune United at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

Babina Noko have developed a reputation as stubborn opponents for the Soweto giants, often setting up compact and disciplined structures.

This clash will demand patience from Amakhosi, but with their defence yet to concede a goal this season, Chiefs will feel confident of grinding out another victory to extend their unbeaten streak.

September 20 – Kabuscorp (Away, CAF Confederation Cup Qualifier, 5pm)

Attention will then shift to continental football, as Chiefs travel to Angola to face Kabuscorp in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup qualifier.

The atmosphere in Luanda is expected to be hostile, and Nabi will be cautious of the physical demands of the trip.

Away goals are crucial in Africa, so a disciplined performance that keeps Chiefs in control of the tie will be the target. Balancing energy levels will be key with a league game scheduled barely 24 hours after their return.

September 21 – TS Galaxy (Away, 3pm)

Barely recovered from their travels, Chiefs will be back in action against TS Galaxy in Mpumalanga.

This is arguably the toughest test in this sequence of games, not only because of the quick turnaround but also due to Galaxy’s energetic and high-tempo approach.

Nabi will need to rotate carefully to avoid fatigue, and the likes of Thabo Cele and Mduduzi Shabalala could be called upon to keep the midfield engine running.

September 24 – Marumo Gallants (Home, 5.30pm)

On Heritage Day, Chiefs return home for a clash against newly promoted Marumo Gallants. On paper, this appears to be a fixture in which Chiefs should collect maximum points.

However, Gallants are seasoned in causing upsets, especially in cup competitions, and will relish the chance to test themselves against one of the country’s giants.

Chiefs will need to guard against complacency, particularly with continental duties looming.

September 27 – Kabuscorp (Home, CAF Confederation Cup Qualifier, 3pm)

The demanding stretch concludes with the return leg against Kabuscorp at FNB Stadium. Chiefs will hope to have taken control of the tie in Angola, but the return fixture gives them the chance to finish the job in front of their home crowd.

Securing progression to the group stages will be vital, not only for prestige but also for revenue and the confidence that comes with competing among the continent’s best.

If they emerge unscathed, the dream of a title push and a meaningful continental run will feel increasingly realistic.
