Puso Dithejane is set to follow Mbekezeli Mbokazi to Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer after a number of impressive performances for TS Galaxy in the Betway Premiership.

Playing out wide on the wing, and able to feature more centrally, Dithejane has had a productive season for his club, scoring four goals and providing six assists in all competitions. His ability in the final third at such a young age makes him an exciting prospect for any club in South Africa and abroad.

Dithejane, one of the most exciting young players in the PSL, was linked with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns and a return to Kaizer Chiefs, where it all started for him. However, according to reports, attempts to sign him by the two clubs were rejected by Galaxy.

It is now speculated that the 21-year-old has agreed a move to Chicago.

The MLS club, who completed the transfer of Mbokazi last month, revealed on their social media channels that they’ve signed another South African, with an official announcement expected on Wednesday.

However, some fans on social media believe the South African set to move to the United States could instead be Relebohile Mofokeng.

Mofokeng does have admirers in the US, and Minnesota United, where Bongokuhle Hlongwane already plays, attempted to sign him in August.

Should the Illinois club sign either player, it would be consistent with the transfer strategy of the American club, which focuses on recruiting young players with high ceilings and selling them on for a profit at a later stage. Bringing in another South African could also help Mbokazi settle more comfortably and reduce any homesickness.

Whether it is Dithejane or Mofokeng who ultimately makes the move, the signing would underline Major League Soccer’s growing interest in the PSL as a talent pipeline. It would also mark another significant step for local players breaking into international markets, reinforcing the league’s reputation for developing young footballers capable of succeeding on a global stage.
