Orlando Pirates have already enjoyed immense success at the Mbombela Stadium twice this season, which is why they will be eager to make it three victories in succession in their most important game of the campaign on Saturday.

Pirates could be crowned Betway Premiership champions if they beat Orbit College at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off) — ending a painful 14-year league title drought.

Besides their obvious superiority on paper, the Mbombela turf has already been incredibly kind to Pirates during their two previous visits this season.

Pirates began their memorable run in the City of the Rising Sun by beating Stellenbosch FC 3–0 in the MTN8 final late last year to win a record-extending fourth consecutive MTN8 crown. Tshepang Moremi and Oswin Appollis were the undisputed stars of the night, with the duo coming off the bench to make direct contributions through goals, assists, or both.

That memorable night in Mbombela seemingly laid the perfect foundation for Pirates to build a powerhouse domestic season. They have since won the Carling Knockout and are now on the brink of being officially crowned the undisputed kings of local football.

Pirates’ relentless march towards the title was also boosted by their emphatic 6–0 win over TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium earlier this year.

The Relebohile Mofokeng-led, five-star performance not only secured three vital points for Pirates, but it also gave them a massive psychological morale boost in the title race while Mamelodi Sundowns looked determined to close in on a record-extending ninth successive title.

With all roads leading to Nelspruit on Saturday afternoon, Pirates and the Ghost will be highly confident of ending their season exactly the same way they started it — with major silverware in front of a rocking, sold-out Mbombela Stadium.
