Durbanites are in for an unforgettable celebration of culture and music as Old Mutual Music at the Lake brings three of South Africa’s biggest names -Sjava, Big Zulu, and Lwah Ndlunkulu - to the  Durban Botanic Gardens on Heritage Day, September 24.

The three artists are from KwaZulu-Natal. Sjava, known for his soulful blend of Afro-soul and hip-hop, has become one of South Africa’s most powerful storytellers, earning multiple awards and international recognition for his raw and authentic sound.

Sharing the stage with him is Big Zulu, whose commanding presence and hit anthems like Imali Eningi have cemented him as a voice of the people and a leader in South African rap culture. Adding to the magic is Lwah Ndlunkulu, the breakout Afro-pop sensation whose heartfelt vocals and fresh artistry have won her fans nationwide, making her one of the most exciting new voices in the local music scene.

Together, these three artists embody the spirit of Heritage Day celebrating South Africa’s diverse cultural identity through music that resonates deeply with audiences across generations.

“At Old Mutual, we believe that access belongs to everyone. Access to opportunity, to financial growth, and to moments of joy and connection. Our support of Music at the Lake is about more than music; it’s about creating a space where every voice can be heard, and every story can be celebrated. That is why we are inviting audiences to the Add Your Voice campaign, to be part of the conversation in South Africa.

"On Heritage Day especially, this partnership reflects our commitment to unity, diversity, and building stronger communities. Just as music brings people together, we want South Africans to know that no matter where they are in their journey, they can start building their future from here. We’re proud to help make that possible in the heart of Durban’s iconic Botanic Gardens,” said Bandile Mngoma, Senior Manager: Sponsorships and Events at Old Mutual.

Old Mutual Music at the Lake featuring Sjava, Big Zulu and Lwah Ndlunkulu takes place at the Durban Botanic Gardens – Lake Area on Wednesday, September 24. Gates open at 1pm and tickets are available via Webtickets.
