Afro-Trap sensation Sosoboy Fosho has officially launched his long-awaited EP, Pink Roses, under Asanda Empires, marking a bold new chapter in his career.

The project fuses high-energy beats with soulful storytelling, showcasing his growth as an artist and his ability to connect deeply with listeners.

Hailing from Mdantsane Township in the Eastern Cape, multi-talented director, composer, author, and vocalist Sonwabile Madonela, better known as Sosoboy Fosho, is steadily cementing his place in the South African music industry.

Reflecting on Pink Roses, he describes the EP as a celebration of love in all its forms, the beautiful, the messy, and the hopeful.

“Roses are universal, but pink roses represent admiration and gratitude,” he says. “I wanted to give people music that feels like flowers for the soul, a gift that carries both softness and power.”

Central to Sosoboy Fosho’s artistry is his use of isiXhosa, which he sees as more than just a language; it embodies culture, heritage, and identity. Through rapping and singing in his mother tongue, he aims to make listeners feel proud of who they are, whether they understand every word or simply connect with the emotion. For him, it’s a way of sharing stories that matter, told authentically in his own voice.

The EP launch at Club LIV Sandton in August was a star-studded affair hosted by Somizi Mhlongo. Sosoboy set the stage alight with a performance of his viral hit Mine, the same track that captured hearts on House of Zwide

“It felt surreal… like all the late nights in the studio paid off right there. When people were singing Mine back, I knew it wasn’t just mine anymore; it belonged to the people,” he recalled. Sharing the stage with icons like Somizi and Emtee was another defining moment. “These are people who’ve paved the way, and to have their respect and support showed me I’m on the right path.”

Looking back on his journey, Sosoboy revealed that one of his biggest challenges was simply being heard.

“In the beginning, it felt like shouting into the void,” he admitted. Through consistency and staying true to his craft, he eventually found his audience, a success now reflected in Pink Roses.

He also emphasises that the project is “for the people,” creating music that resonates everywhere, from weddings to taxis to global stages. He balances making music for himself with considering how it will connect with listeners, ensuring every song tells his story while touching the lives of others.

Looking ahead, Sosoboy says Pink Roses is just the beginning. Fans can expect more visuals, a tour, and exciting collaborations. “Let’s just say I’ve got surprises loading,” he teased.

Among his dream collaborators are local stars like Black Coffee, Tyla, and Ami Faku, and internationally, Wizkid and Burna Boy, artists he believes can help expand Afro-Trap’s reach.

Reflecting on his legacy, Sosoboy concluded, “I want to be remembered as the kid from Mdantsane who turned his voice into a movement and showed the world the power of music.”
